On the eve of Parliament's budget session, the BJP intensified its criticism of the Congress, specifically targeting Rahul Gandhi. They claimed that his display of the pocket Constitution was hypocritical, given the Congress's historical abuses of constitutional norms.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur accused Gandhi of ignoring the 'black deeds' of his party, such as the imposition of the Emergency in 1975 and threats to the judiciary. He cited former attorney general K K Venugopal's writings on these issues as evidence.
Amit Malviya, BJP's IT department head, and spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also joined the chorus, alleging that the Congress's historical actions showed a lack of respect for the Constitution. They argued that the Modi government has always shown reverence for the document and highlighted the Congress's alleged 'fake' campaign against BJP in recent elections.
