Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav has accused the AAP government of internal mismanagement, which he claims has led to the closure of 600 Pollution Under Control (PUC) centres. This shutdown has resulted in numerous vehicles plying without necessary pollution clearance certificates, aggravating the city's air quality issues.
Yadav suggested that the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party should adopt the governance model of the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress to combat air pollution effectively. He highlighted that under Congress rule, air quality had been well-managed without such crises.
Further, the Delhi Petrol Dealers' Association (DPDA) has been pushing for a revision of the rates for PUC certificates, stating that the recently announced hike does not meet operational costs. Devender Yadav criticized both AAP and BJP for failing to address the deteriorating air quality, despite the BJP's considerable representation in both Parliament and the Municipal Corporation.
