Following the suspension of Internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini declared Sunday that the administration is vigilant to prevent any disturbances ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra. CM Saini appealed to Nuh residents for cooperation.
Addressing the media, CM Saini emphasized the religious nature of the event, urging public harmony and collaboration. 'We live in a society of harmony. The yatra related to the Braj Mandal, devotees of Lord Krishna, should proceed smoothly,' he stated. The government alerted officials to monitor the yatra closely and handle any issues.
The Haryana government tightened security by suspending mobile internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh until 6 pm on July 22, 2024, to avert misinformation and rumors on social media. This decision follows last year's violence during the same event.
According to an official order, the suspension aims to prevent tension, property damage, and public disturbance. Telecom providers in Haryana are mandated to comply. The government noted potential disruptions to public utilities and damage to public assets if internet services are misused to spread inflammatory content.
The order underlines the need to stop misinformation and mobilization of agitators via social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, and SMS, which could lead to violent activities and property damage.
