Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Monday condemned the central government's decision to lift the longstanding ban on government employees participating in RSS activities, calling it a politically motivated effort to appease the organization. She demanded the immediate withdrawal of the move.
Mayawati argued that government employees should remain impartial and work within the framework of the Constitution and the law for the public interest. She accused the RSS of being involved in political and electoral activities for a specific party, making the decision to lift the ban unfair.
The Congress party also cited a purported government order removing the ban, though its authenticity could not be confirmed immediately. BJP IT department head Amit Malviya supported the decision, calling it the withdrawal of an 'unconstitutional' directive issued 58 years ago.
