Former Union minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath on Tuesday described the Union Budget as 'vision-less' and criticized the Centre for presenting a 'direction-less' policy framework.

Nath argued that the Budget fails to alleviate inflation pressures on common people, farmers, and youth. He claimed it only includes misleading announcements on employment schemes and Income Tax exemptions.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in contrast, announced a substantial Rs 2 lakh crore outlay targeting 4.1 crore youth through various schemes in the Budget for 2024-25.

‘This is a vision-less budget of a directionless government. Young people in the country are constantly struggling for stable jobs amid high unemployment rates, yet the Budget fails to address permanent job creation or fill vacant Union government posts,’ Nath stated.

Highlighting the dissatisfaction among farmers, Nath noted that no significant positive initiatives are evident in the Budget, calling this oversight the 'saddest thing'.

In a sharp critique, he added that promised advancements for farmers are missing, noting that the 'annadata' (agriculturists) were ignored in the Budget.
