In a crucial move ahead of the upcoming bye-elections, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has scheduled an executive meeting at their headquarters on July 24 in Guwahati, Assam. The meeting will address strategic plans for the five assembly constituencies and Panchayat elections.

AGP president and Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora confirmed that tomorrow's executive meeting will delve into election strategies. He further expressed confidence in winning all five seats in the bye-elections, reiterating that four of these were previously held by the NDA, while one was under Congress control.

Bora also reaffirmed AGP's long-standing alliance with the BJP, stretching back to their coalition in 1998-99 and noted that this partnership would continue in the future. He pointed out that the forthcoming bye-elections will cover five legislative assemblies and two Rajya Sabha seats in Assam.

Reflecting on the last Lok Sabha elections, Bora highlighted that BJP clinched nine seats, Congress three, with AGP and United People's Party, Liberal (UPPL) each winning one out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam. Voting took place in three phases in Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Diphu, Darrang-Udalguri, Karinganj, Silchar, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, and Guwahati.
