Binoy Viswam, CPI National Council member and former Rajya Sabha MP, condemned the Union Budget 2024, labeling it as politically motivated and neglectful of Kerala's demands. Speaking to ANI, Viswam accused the BJP of deceit and alleged that the budget showed political vengeance by ignoring Kerala entirely.
Viswam intensified his criticism, describing the budget as a 'Kursi Bachao Budget' meant to save the ruling party's grip on power by appeasing political allies at the expense of other states. He stated that the budget lacks concern for the country's poor, disqualifying it as a national budget.
Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh consecutive Union Budget, prioritizing economic growth, employment, agriculture productivity, and skilling. She outlined nine focus areas, including infrastructure, energy security, and next-gen reforms. Sitharaman also announced significant income-tax reforms and allocated substantial funds for youth employment and skilling programs.
