Assam Calls for Equal Flood Relief Aid as Bihar

Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora voiced dissatisfaction over the allocation of Rs 11,500 crores for Bihar's flood relief. He emphasized the need for similar support for Assam, where flood and erosion problems persist. Bora also discussed election preparations and party reforms ahead of the upcoming polls.

Assam Agriculture Minister and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President Atul Bora expressed his discontent on Wednesday regarding the Rs 11,500 crore flood relief allocation for Bihar. He pledged to demand similar assistance for Assam, emphasizing that flood erosion is a significant issue in the state.

Bora highlighted that senior party leaders and district presidents convened at the AGP headquarters in Guwahati to address the upcoming by-elections and Panchayat elections. During the meeting, the party resolved to strengthen its grassroots units by August 31 and conduct a 3-day workshop in August.

Bora further stated that political party candidates wouldn't be fielded with party symbols in the Panchayat polls, and efforts would be made to identify at least two suitable candidates per ward. He reiterated the party's intention to request the central government for flood and erosion assistance, stressing the necessity for equitable aid distribution.
