The Jharkhand Assembly's six-day Monsoon session commenced on Friday with an agenda packed with key issues, including the first supplementary budget for 2024-25 and several bills.
Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto stated the importance of this short session, hoping for decent debates despite differing opinions. Chief Minister Hemant Soren echoed this sentiment, urging all parties to work collaboratively for the state's progress.
Meanwhile, the opposition plans to tackle topics like corruption, law and order, and demographic shifts, especially in Santhal Pargana. BJP state president Babulal Marandi highlighted significant population changes in the region. In preparations for smooth proceedings, Mahto had organized an all-party meeting, and two legislators were disqualified under the anti-defection law.
