In a newly released video, former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, threw their support behind Kamala Harris' presidential bid. The roughly one-minute video captured a genuine phone call between the Obamas and the current vice president.

"We called to say Michelle and I couldn't be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office," Obama told Harris. "I am proud of you. This is going to be historic," the former first lady added.

Harris expressed appreciation, saying, "Thank you both. It means so much. And we're gonna have some fun with this too." The candor in the call highlighted the strong bond among the leaders.

This endorsement comes as Harris gains traction against Republican rival Donald Trump after President Joe Biden stepped back due to declining poll numbers. Obama's longstanding popularity in the Democratic party and his significant role in fundraising could be instrumental in revitalizing Harris' campaign.

The endorsement indicates Obama's willingness to actively campaign for Harris once she secures the nomination. Obama's support remained neutral during the initial stages, allowing the Democratic party its due process in determining the nominee.
