Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held critical deliberations with chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states on a broad spectrum of issues.
The 'mukhyamantri parishad,' organized regularly by the BJP, focuses on reviewing key state schemes, implementing best governance practices, and ensuring the effective delivery of central government welfare initiatives.
Attendees included Union ministers Amit Shah, J P Nadda, and several BJP chief ministers like Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh and Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam. Chief ministers from Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Haryana, Manipur, and Chhattisgarh also joined the two-day session.
The leadership occasionally evaluates the political landscape during these meetings. This latest gathering followed the Union budget presentation, a point of contention for the opposition, which accused the government of bias towards Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. It also marks the first such meeting post-Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP saw a dip in its majority.
Despite these political dynamics, party leaders emphasized that governance issues were the primary focus of the discussions.
