On Sunday, former election strategist Prashant Kishor declared that his Jan Suraaj campaign would evolve into a political party on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, and will contest the Bihar assembly elections next year.

Kishor made the announcement at a state-level workshop of Jan Suraaj, attended by notable figures including two former legislators and a granddaughter of the late socialist icon Karpoori Thakur. He confirmed that further details, such as party leadership, will be decided in due time.

Kishor welcomed Jagriti Thakur, granddaughter of Karpoori Thakur, and several other prominent figures into Jan Suraaj. The campaign-turned-party aims to shake up Bihar's political landscape in the upcoming elections.
