The Nov. 5, 2024, U.S. House elections will see Republicans defending a narrow majority. Here are some critical races to watch as Republicans and Democrats vie for control of the chamber.

In Arizona’s 1st District, Republican Rep. David Schweikert faces numerous Democratic challengers after narrowly winning reelection in 2022. Key Democratic contenders include Conor O’Callaghan, former White House speechwriter Andrei Cherny, and state lawmaker Amish Shah. Arizona's Democrats are also choosing a likely successor to Rep. Ruben Gallego, who left his seat to run for the Senate. Top contenders are Yassamin Ansari and Raquel Teran.

In Washington State, first-term Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez hopes to fend off Joe Kent, her previous opponent. Kent, endorsed by the state GOP, is set for a rematch. Leslie Lewallen is also in the running for the Republican nomination.

Wisconsin prepares for a special election to fill the seat of retired Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher. With five candidates vying, the district is likely to stay Republican. The general election will be held on Nov. 5, alongside the October primary.

In Virginia, far-right Rep. Bob Good lost his primary to former Navy SEAL John McGuire, backed by high-profile Republicans. The district remains safely Republican.
