Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Awadhesh Prasad on Monday demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged land scam in and around Ayodhya, accusing the BJP of betraying the people of the region.
Speaking during the Lok Sabha's budget debate, Prasad alleged the BJP has exploited Ayodhya's name for political and economic benefits, claiming that the town's residents have rejected the saffron party.
He demanded Parliament form a committee to probe the alleged irregularities and report its findings.
In response, BJP leader Vishnu Datt Sharma defended the budget, stating it aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat'. Sharma emphasized Modi's commitment to the welfare of the country's downtrodden, noting provisions for youth employment.
Other leaders, including representatives from the YSR Congress Party, Trinamool Congress, and Kerala Congress, voiced their grievances about the budget's provisions for violence in Andhra Pradesh, job creation, and agriculture funding.
Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel rebutted the opposition's criticisms, asserting the NDA government's dedication to all citizens and dismissing claims of its potential downfall as merely wishful thinking.
