Former President Donald Trump has agreed to an FBI interview as part of the investigation into an assassination attempt earlier this month in Pennsylvania, as revealed by a special agent on Monday. The gunman, prior to the shooting, had extensively researched mass attacks and explosive devices.

The interview, a standard protocol for victims, comes after Trump was hit by a bullet fragment at a July 13 campaign rally. FBI special agent Kevin Rojek said, ''We want to get his perspective on what he observed.''

The FBI's ongoing investigation highlighted the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, as a reclusive and intelligent 20-year-old. Extensive planning included acquiring chemical precursors and using a drone near the rally site. There is no known motive yet, despite Crooks' online searches for information on mass shootings and past political assassinations.
