BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Monday launched a fierce critique of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's 'Halwa' remarks, alleging that during the Congress rule, a single family hoarded projects while the rest were left with nothing. Trivedi's comments, made to ANI, highlighted Congress's continuation of British traditions even after 50 years of independence.

'People may have forgotten that before Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government, the budget was presented at 5 pm. This was a holdover from British rule, adjusted to their time zone. For 50 years post-independence, Congress adhered to this colonial tradition. Post the Narendra Modi-led central government, the budget is now presented on February 1, aligning better with India's seasonal calendar,' Trivedi pointed out.

The BJP leader stressed Rahul Gandhi should note that state Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary also comes from the same community. Trivedi accused Congress of being unsettled by PM Modi's equitable distribution of resources, now available to the general public, including the marginalized, which used to be a Congress preserve.

This response followed Rahul Gandhi's critique of the traditional 'Halwa' ceremony at the Ministry of Finance before the Budget session. Gandhi claimed the Budget lacked representation from OBC, tribal, and Dalit officers. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman officially presented the Union Budget on July 23, with notable allocations for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing infrastructure and special financial support.
