Om Prakash Mathur Appointed as Sikkim Governor
Senior BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the new governor of Sikkim. He was presented with the warrant of appointment by Chief Secretary V B Pathak at Raj Bhavan. The 72-year-old will take the oath of office on Wednesday. Mathur has a long history with the BJP, previously serving as state president and as a Rajya Sabha member.

Senior BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur has officially been appointed as the new governor of Sikkim. Upon his arrival on Tuesday, Chief Secretary V B Pathak presented him with the warrant of appointment at the Raj Bhavan.
The 72-year-old Governor-Designate was honored with a guard of honour by the 13th battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Mathur is scheduled to take the oath of office on Wednesday.
Other prominent dignitaries present included Sikkim DGP A K Singh, Additional Chief Secretary R Telang, Raj Bhavan Secretary J D Bhutia, Gangtok District Magistrate Tushar Nikhare, SSP Tenzing Loden, and other senior officials. Mathur has had a notable political career, starting as an RSS pracharak in Rajasthan and later serving as the state BJP president and as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
