Outgoing governor Banwarilal Purohit has urged the people of Punjab to put in hard work to make the state prosperous and help India become a 'Vishwa Guru' (world leader). Purohit made the remarks during his valedictory speech at Punjab Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

Emphasizing the importance of eradicating drug addiction, Purohit called on the people of Punjab to unite against the drug menace, describing it as a sin that must be eradicated to save the coming generations. He expressed confidence that the large-hearted people of Punjab would overcome this challenge.

Purohit also highlighted the potential for improvement in various sectors within Punjab and thanked the state government and Chandigarh administration for their support during his tenure. He mentioned the proposal of development projects during a Niti Aayog meeting. His resignation was accepted by President Droupadi Murmu, and Gulab Chand Kataria is set to take over as the new governor.
