In Rajya Sabha, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge requested the expunging of BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari's remarks regarding his political journey. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar assured Kharge of a review and removal of any hurtful words. The Congress leader asserted he was a first-generation politician.
An emotional Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday appealed to the Chair to expunge certain remarks made by BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari concerning his political journey.
Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar responded, promising to review the remarks made by Tiwari on Tuesday and assure that any offending words aimed at the Congress leader would be removed from the official record.
The exchange occurred immediately after the laying of listed papers in the House when Kharge pointed out that Tiwari had referred to his political journey, mentioning that ''his (Kharge's) entire family'' was involved in politics.
Kharge addressed the term ''parivarvaad'' used by Tiwari, requesting its expunging from the records. He then narrated his history as a first-generation politician, starting his journey with the Congress party.
During the discussion, Dhankhar acknowledged that he was present when Tiwari made the remarks and did not believe they were intended to malign Kharge. He assured a thorough examination of the records.
