Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati on Wednesday criticized the recent clash between the opposition and treasury benches in the Lok Sabha over a caste remark, describing it as a “drama” and a deceptive attempt against the OBC community. She accused both BJP and Congress of having a “fiercely anti-OBC” history, rendering them untrustworthy.
The spat was triggered by BJP leader Anurag Thakur's apparent reference to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's caste during a discussion on the Union Budget, which escalated tensions between the opposition and the ruling parties.
Mayawati asserted on social media that the ongoing dispute was a ploy to mislead the OBC community. She urged the Centre to take the National Caste Census seriously, emphasizing its importance in ensuring that crores of poor-backward individuals, and Bahujans, receive their rightful share in the nation's development.
