Several BJP veterans took their oaths of office as governors in various Indian states on Wednesday, signaling a significant reshuffle of leadership roles. This comes after President Droupadi Murmu's appointment of six new governors and the reshuffling of three others.

Santosh Kumar Gangwar, an eight-time BJP MP from Bareilly, was sworn in as the 12th governor of Jharkhand. The oath was administered by Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Sujit Narayan Prasad in Ranchi. Gangwar, 76, succeeds C P Radhakrishnan, who was appointed as the governor of Maharashtra.

In Mumbai, Radhakrishnan took his oath of office from Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, becoming Maharashtra's 21st governor since its formation in 1960. Ramen Deka, former Lok Sabha member from Assam, was sworn in as the 10th governor of Chhattisgarh by Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha in Raipur. Gulab Chand Kataria, a veteran BJP leader, assumed office as the 37th governor of Punjab, succeeding Banwarilal Purohit. Kataria was administered the oath by Chief Justice Sheel Nagu of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Other notable appointments include Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde as governor of Rajasthan, Lakshman Prasad Acharya as governor of Assam with additional charge of Manipur, and Om Prakash Mathur as governor of Sikkim. K Kailashnathan has been appointed Lt Governor of Puducherry and will assume his duties shortly.
