Contentious Clash: Trump Questions Harris's Ethnicity at Black Journalists' Event

Republican candidate Donald Trump questioned the ethnicity of his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, at the largest annual gathering of Black journalists. Harris, the first Black and Asian American U.S. vice president, has faced personal attacks during her campaign, amid calls from GOP leaders to focus on policy issues instead of personal remarks.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump sparked controversy by questioning the ethnic background of his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris. The incident took place during a heated appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists’ annual convention on Wednesday.

Trump’s remarks, asking whether Harris was Indian or Black, generated jeers from the audience. Harris, whose mother was Indian and father is Black, is the first Black and Asian American U.S. vice president.

The event, attended by about 1,000 journalists, began tensely, with Trump labeling a question about his support from Black voters as “horrible” and “hostile.” His participation elicited backlash, leading to a co-chair of the convention stepping down.
