Speaker Om Birla advised MPs on Friday to focus on direct questions, noting the popular trend of invoking Mahabharat in Lok Sabha debates.

During a question to the Union Ayush minister, BJP MP Pradip Purohit referenced an ayurvedic college's historical herbs. Birla interrupted, suggesting Purohit to avoid storytelling and instead ask direct questions. Birla remarked, 'These days, narrating the Mahabharat has become common here.'

Earlier in the week, Rahul Gandhi applied the 'chakravyuh' metaphor from Mahabharat to criticize the government's perceived fear-mongering and support for big businesses. Anurag Thakur countered, accusing Congress of creating numerous 'chakravyuhs' to harm the nation, claiming PM Modi had rescued the country from them.
