In a significant political development, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has reached out to Akal Takht jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh for 'unconditional forgiveness' regarding missteps during the party's rule in Punjab.

The letter, dated July 24, came after rebel leaders, including former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra and ex-SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur, appeared before the jathedar on July 1, seeking pardon for what they called 'four mistakes' made between 2007 and 2017. On Monday, the Akal Takht Secretariat in Amritsar publicly released the three-page letter.

Reflecting on the allegations, Badal emphasized his dedication to Sikh principles and stated, 'I am seeking forgiveness for all these mistakes, which took place knowingly or unknowingly.' Following these actions, the party's disciplinary committee expelled several senior leaders for 'anti-party activities.'
