Opposition members on Tuesday assailed the government in the Lok Sabha, alleging that the Union Budget neglects the salaried and middle classes while favoring corporates.
However, BJP members hailed the Budget as 'historic,' claiming it aims to make India a developed nation. Initiating the debate on the Finance Bill, Congress MP Amar Singh said the Union government appears to be taxing the poor and sparing the rich, failing to address unemployment or reduce household out-of-pocket expenses.
'The Budget seems to take every rupee from the salaried class while sparing the wealthy,' Singh added, highlighting income tax disparities. TMC MP Mahua Moitra criticized Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for a 'mockery,' arguing the Budget adversely impacts the middle class and poor.
