FBI agents have seized the cell phone of Republican Representative Andy Ogles as part of an investigation into issues surrounding his campaign fund disclosures. Ogles confirmed the seizure, acknowledged past mistakes in financial filings, and pledged cooperation with law enforcement. Ogles, endorsed by Donald Trump, recently called for Vice President Kamala Harris's impeachment.
FBI agents have seized Republican Representative Andy Ogles' cell phone as part of an investigation into problems surrounding his campaign fund disclosures, the freshman lawmaker revealed on Tuesday.
In a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ogles said, "Last Friday, the FBI took possession of my cell phone." Ogles, who represents a district neighboring Nashville, Tennessee, admitted that his campaign had made errors in their initial financial filings for months, vowing to cooperate with law enforcement and the Federal Election Commission. He did not offer additional specifics about the investigation.
Ogles secured his first term in the House of Representatives in November 2022, winning against a Democratic opponent with a comfortable 55.8%-42.3% margin. Endorsed by former President Donald Trump, Ogles is part of the far-right House Freedom Caucus and recently proposed legislation to impeach Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of "gross incompetence" over immigration issues. Although Harris is not in charge of border control, she was assigned by President Joe Biden to address the root causes of migration from El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
