Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday labeled the BJP-JDS padayatra as purposeless, claiming it has been rejected by the people. Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar compared the poor response to the meaningful padayatras undertaken by other leaders in the past.

'What is the purpose of BJP-JDS padayatra? They can't accept an OBC leader becoming CM again,' he stated, pointing out that JDS workers were notably absent, and BJP had brought in party members from other states. Shivakumar also demanded answers to various scams involving Kumaraswamy, alleging that the former CM’s brother has amassed immense wealth without explanation.

When questioned about the Governor's delay in sanctioning the prosecution of Union Minister Kumaraswamy in a mining case, Shivakumar insisted on a thorough investigation. He also commented on H D Deve Gowda's meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, suggesting it was an attempt to protect his family amidst ongoing controversies. Shivakumar confirmed he would release information about Kumaraswamy's brother's assets at a suitable time and expressed readiness to debate corruption allegations in the Assembly.
