Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia walked out of Tihar Jail on Friday after enduring 17 months of incarceration. His release followed a Supreme Court decision granting him bail earlier in the day, underscoring that his prolonged detention without trial violated his right to a speedy justice.

The former Delhi deputy chief minister had been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over alleged corruption and money laundering tied to the Delhi excise policy scam.

As Sisodia emerged from jail, an enthusiastic crowd of AAP supporters greeted him with flags and cheers. 'We have brought this legal battle to its logical end through the Constitution. I thank you all for being with me,' Sisodia declared amid chants of 'Kejriwal, Kejriwal'. The Delhi chief minister, also implicated in the same case, remains incarcerated.'
