On Thursday, opposition leaders took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech, alleging that it lacked unity and inspiration while failing to address key issues affecting the nation.
Communist Party of India General Secretary D Raja criticized Modi's speech, stating it did not focus on uniting the nation or addressing its diversity. He accused the prime minister of adhering to the divisive agenda of the RSS and ignoring the plurality of the country.
Raja also questioned Modi's silence on the Hindenburg Research report allegations and claimed that various institutions, including SEBI and the Election Commission, are compromised.
National Federation of Indian Women General Secretary and CPI leader Annie Raja expressed skepticism about Modi's 'One Nation One Election' initiative, suggesting the need for confidence in holding elections at different times to ensure fairness.
Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Manoj Jha emphasized that Modi had not acknowledged his role as the prime minister for all citizens, including those who voted against him. Jha criticized Modi's call for a secular civil code and push for a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, suggesting the PM's narrow mindset failed to inspire the nation.
In his 98-minute speech, Modi's 11th Independence Day address, he reiterated his vision for India's golden era and called for the entry of fresh, untied blood into politics to enrich democracy.
