Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was surprised on Thursday when he learned that Ramashish Ram, the 'oldest' resident of a Dalit settlement, was younger than him.

Kumar, the state's longest-serving CM, who had hoisted the tricolour at Gandhi Maidan, visited a 'Mahadalit Tola' as part of his Independence Day tradition.

Ram, introduced as the oldest resident, hoisted the flag in Danapur. During his speech, a shocked Kumar asked Ram's age, expecting him to be older.

'You are just 69? Then why do you look so haggard? Look at me, I'm 74,' Kumar exclaimed, advising Ram to maintain physical activity.

His comments came as rumors about Kumar's health circulate, fueled by opposition figures like RJD and Prashant Kishor. Despite speculations, Kumar reportedly leads a disciplined life and has no serious ailments.
