The National Conference (NC) on Friday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to investigate the significant transfers in Jammu and Kashmir's police and civil administration, demanding an immediate suspension of these orders.

Omar Abdullah, NC vice president, expressed concerns of biased intent from Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. In a post on X, Abdullah remarked, 'That the J&K administration had to call officers in the secretariat & police HQ to work on Independence Day to order this massive reshuffle tells me they had absolutely NO CLUE that the ECI would be announcing poll dates today.'

National Conference general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar echoed these sentiments, suggesting the transfer orders were orchestrated to benefit the BJP and its allies. He stated, 'The LG government has strategically shaken up the administrative set-up, compromising the principles of free and fair elections.'
