Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took aim at the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday, criticizing the party for failing to address Punjab-specific issues in Parliament while consistently seeking votes in the name of the 'panth'.

Speaking at a state-level function to mark the 'Rakhar Puniya' festival, Mann accused the SAD of never raising concerns related to Punjab in Parliament, despite its claims of being 'panthic and pro-Punjab'. He recalled that in December 2018, during his tenure as a Lok Sabha member from Sangrur, he had successfully appealed to then-Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to honor the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh's younger sons.

The Chief Minister also took jabs at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), advising it to introspect its governance in states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. He criticized opposition leaders for their recent electoral defeat and underscored his commitment to eradicating nepotism in politics. Addressing a separate gathering, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal reaffirmed his commitment to the 'Khalsa Panth' and warned the community about internal and external threats. Meanwhile, Mann highlighted his government’s achievements in the health and education sectors and initiatives empowering women.
