PDP Chief Spokesperson Suhail Bukhari Quits Party Ahead of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Polls

Suhail Bukhari, the chief spokesperson of the PDP, resigned from the party ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Reportedly dissatisfied with not receiving a mandate to contest, Bukhari's departure follows former minister Basharat Bukhari's return to the PDP, which diminished his ticket chances.

Suhail Bukhari, chief spokesperson of the PDP, announced his resignation from the party on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This sudden exit has raised questions amidst political circles concerning the internal dynamic of the party.

Bukhari did not provide detailed reasons for his departure but confirmed to PTI that he had indeed left the PDP. Sources indicate his discontent stemmed from not being granted the party's mandate to contest the upcoming polls.

Having eyed the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency, Bukhari's ambitions were thwarted by the return of former minister Basharat Bukhari to the PDP last month, significantly reducing his chances of securing the ticket. A former journalist turned politician, Suhail Bukhari was a close aide to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and served as her advisor during her tenure as chief minister.
