Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday declared his readiness to resign if required, challenging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's criticisms against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s authorization to investigate him in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority land allotment 'scam.'

Responding to Siddaramaiah's charges about the Governor withholding consent for his prosecution, Kumaraswamy questioned why Siddaramaiah hasn’t approached the Supreme Court regarding the alleged Sri Sai Venkateshwara Minerals scam.

The Special Investigation Team of Lokayukta has once again submitted a proposal to Gehlot seeking permission to file a charge-sheet against Kumaraswamy in an alleged illegal mining lease case, which had earlier received the Governor’s nod last November.

Siddaramaiah accused the Governor of haste and bias, asserting the Governor's approvals against him have been more prompt.

Kumaraswamy criticized Siddaramaiah and other ministers who called for his resignation, stressing he remained unafraid of new cases opened by the Congress, and emphasizing his integrity during his tenure as Chief Minister in 2018.

Kumaraswamy attributed the renewed Lokayukta report against him to his vocal stance on Congress government’s alleged corruption.
