The North Eastern Council (NEC) has deferred its scheduled two-day plenary session, which was supposed to commence on August 31, due to unforeseen circumstances, the council revealed on X this Thursday.

Prominent attendees, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, alongside governors and chief ministers from northeastern states, were expected to participate in the event.

“Plenary meeting scheduled in Agartala postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. New dates will be announced in due course,” stated the NEC.

Meanwhile, Tripura is grappling with severe flooding, resulting in landslides that have caused 22 deaths and left more than 65,000 people homeless since Monday.
