The FBI has disclosed new details about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, revealing that the gunman had extensively researched events involving both Trump and current President Joe Biden. Thomas Matthew Crooks saw the Pennsylvania campaign rally as a 'target of opportunity.'
On the day of the attack, Crooks shot at Trump from a nearby rooftop but was subsequently killed by a Secret Service countersniper. According to Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Pittsburgh field office, Crooks had conducted significant research on various events and targets before the attack.
Despite nearly 1,000 interviews, the FBI has yet to determine the exact motive behind the July 13 shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. 'We have a clear idea of mindset, but we are not ready to make any conclusive statements regarding motive at this time,' Rojek stated.
