Amid easing ethnic violence, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has vowed to restore peace in the state within six months with support from the central government, denying any intention to resign.

In an interview, Singh disclosed appointing Dinganglung Gangmei as an emissary to initiate dialogue between the Kuki-zo and Meitei communities. The tensions, which began in May 2023, have already resulted in 226 deaths.
