Disgruntled AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Wednesday criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita, over her social media post expressing relief at the release of Bibhav Kumar and Vijay Nair.

Kumar was arrested for allegedly assaulting Maliwal at Kejriwal's residence and was granted bail by the Supreme Court. On Tuesday, Sunita posted on X a picture of Kumar and Nair, who was released on bail in a Delhi excise policy case, sitting together in a living room, writing in Hindi, 'A day of relief.'

Firing back on social media, Maliwal expressed her discontent by stating, 'The chief minister's wife, who was at home when I was being beaten up, feels 'relieved' because the man who accosted me in their house has been released on bail.'

Maliwal further criticized the situation, suggesting that it sends a dangerous message of impunity for violence against women. She called out the use of influential tactics to troll victims and hire top-tier lawyers to defend the perpetrators.

Nair, the former communications in charge of AAP, spent 22 months in Tihar Prison in connection with the Delhi excise policy case before being granted bail. Bibhav Kumar, held in judicial custody for Maliwal's assault case, was similarly released on the same day.

Kumar's alleged assault on Maliwal took place on May 13 at Kejriwal's official residence and led to his arrest by Delhi Police on May 18.
