Grenfell Tower Tragedy: A Call for Justice Seven Years On

Seven years after losing his family in the Grenfell Tower fire, Hisam Choucair expressed anguish at a news conference, marking the release of the final report by a public inquiry into the tragedy that killed 72 people.

The inquiry panel pointed fingers at the government and construction industry, blaming the disaster on their failings, particularly criticising the firms involved in installing flammable cladding. Choucair, while appreciating the inquiry's findings and recommendations, lamented the delay in securing justice for his family.

The Crown Prosecution Service has stated it will not make charging decisions until 2026, further postponing criminal proceedings. Other survivors and victims' family members share Choucair's sentiments, with many fearing that justice will not be adequately served and that unsafe cladding will remain a threat.
