Russian President Vladimir Putin has recognized India as one of the three nations he remains in constant communication with regarding the Ukraine conflict. He emphasized India's earnest efforts to mediate and resolve the situation during a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
Putin's comments followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Ukraine, where Modi engaged in talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Modi reaffirmed India's readiness to play an active role in achieving peace, emphasizing that both Russia and Ukraine should engage in dialogue without delay.
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov added that Prime Minister Modi's close ties with both President Putin and President Zelenskyy position India uniquely to contribute to the peace process. However, Peskov noted that there are currently no specific mediation plans in place, citing the lack of conducive conditions for productive talks.
