A senior U.S. intelligence official has revealed that Russia remains the most active foreign adversary attempting to influence the U.S. presidential election scheduled for Nov. 5, 2020. China's interference, meanwhile, is primarily targeted at down-ballot races, the official stated during a Friday briefing.
The official also noted a significant uptick in activity from Iran, which has stepped up its efforts more than in previous election cycles. The Middle Eastern nation is actively trying to sway voter opinion in both the presidential and congressional races.
The revelations underscore ongoing concerns about foreign interference in U.S. elections, with adversaries employing various tactics to affect the outcome and the political landscape.
