Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has accused the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government of conducting a perilous excise constable recruitment drive that tragically resulted in the deaths of 12 youths.

Speaking to reporters at Ranchi's Birsa Munda Airport, Chouhan, who oversees the BJP's Jharkhand election preparations, claimed the 10-km run was a ploy to attract votes amid the upcoming assembly polls.

Chouhan lambasted the Soren administration for not providing proper arrangements, further alleging that the actions constituted more than an accident, labelling them 'murders' driven by electoral greed. In response to the fatalities, health measures have been instituted, and the recruitment drive will resume with enhanced safety protocols.
