Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks made during a visit to the United States. Goyal called it 'absolutely shameful' that Gandhi would defame India on foreign soil and demanded an apology.
He accused Gandhi of pursuing a well-thought agenda designed by the Congress party. 'Can anybody in his right mind justify or endorse the deplorable statements of Mr. Gandhi?' Goyal questioned in a media briefing.
Gandhi is currently on a four-day visit to the U.S. where he has met with lawmakers and foreign officials. His remarks have drawn severe backlash from Indian government officials, affirming that the Congress leader has crossed boundaries in his criticism.
