BJD president Naveen Patnaik has announced that his party will undertake a comprehensive study on the feasibility of simultaneous elections before deciding its stance on the issue.
Speaking at the 12th edition of the Odisha Literary Festival organized by the New Indian Express, Patnaik emphasized the need for detailed examination of the proposal and its practical implementation.
Patnaik also sharply criticized the BJP-led state government's management of law and order, pointing out incidents such as the mistreatment of a governor's son in Puri and the alleged harassment of an Army major and his fiancée at a police station in the capital city. He called these incidents shocking and demanded a judicial probe.
Commenting on the performance of the state and central governments in their first 100 days in office, Patnaik said it was too early for assessments. Despite the challenges, Patnaik affirmed his commitment to continue serving the people of Odisha as the leader of the opposition, building on his 24 years of public service.
