The Central Health Ministry on Monday issued a show cause notice to a ghee-supplying company after samples from four companies revealed adulteration in one. Allegations of substandard ingredients, including animal fat, in the ghee used for Tirupati laddus have prompted legal actions and official inquiries.

Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) head YV Subba Reddy has approached the Supreme Court seeking an independent investigation committee led by a retired apex court judge. He aims to probe the quality of ingredients and restore devotees' faith. Alongside, the temple performed purification rituals to address concerns.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the allegations. Naidu assured that the investigation would encompass multiple aspects including traditional purification and setting up of standard operating procedures for temple management, ensuring no recurrence of such malpractices.
