Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has yet to respond to a United States-led cease-fire proposal. The cease-fire, supported by France and other allies, seeks to halt the intensifying conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon, which has resulted in over 600 casualties. Netanyahu is currently en route to the United States for the United Nations General Assembly.
The U.S. and its allies called for an immediate 21-day cease-fire on Wednesday to facilitate negotiations. Despite this, Israel's acting Prime Minister Israel Katz, filling in for Netanyahu during his overseas trip, declared there would be no cessation of hostilities. Katz vowed to continue the northern offensive with full force until victory is assured and displaced Israeli citizens can safely return to their homes.
Netanyahu's office further confirmed that the Israeli military would continue targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon amid the ongoing conflict.
