Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday expressed sorrow over the demise of a soldier from Himachal Pradesh who succumbed to an illness, according to an official statement.

The statement identified the soldier as Vinay Kumar, aged 25, from Pohal village in the Mandi district. He passed away during treatment at a medical facility in Jalandhar.

Contrary to an earlier release stating Kumar had died while fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, the revised statement did not include this detail. The chief minister extended condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of the state government’s full support during this difficult time.
