Newly appointed Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, urged top air warriors to enhance cohesion and jointness shortly after taking charge on Monday. Singh, an experienced fighter pilot with over 5,000 flying hours, succeeded Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari, who retired after three years in the role.
'It is important that the IAF remains operationally capable, ever vigilant, and a credible deterrence,' Singh emphasized in his address. He highlighted key areas towards building a strong, capable, and self-reliant IAF, urging commanders to adopt nurturing leadership and enhance jointness with other services, aligning with the government's theaterisation initiative.
Expressing confidence in the air warriors' dedication, Singh called for heightened attention on the current geo-political situation. He outlined priorities including new fighter fleet procurement and modernizing the force amid evolving national security challenges, such as the eastern Ladakh border row with China. Singh also conveyed gratitude to air veterans for their contributions to the IAF's success.
