Delhi Chief Minister Atishi found herself halted by authorities outside the Bawana Police Station on Tuesday. She was on her way to check on climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had been detained the previous night alongside his supporters.
Atishi, arriving at the station around 1 pm, was prevented from proceeding further by police officers, according to a party statement.
A substantial police presence has been established around the Bawana Police Station near the Delhi-Haryana border. Several of Wangchuk's detained supporters have been relocated to different police stations along the area's periphery.
Wangchuk, accompanied by around 120 people from Ladakh, was stopped as they marched to Delhi demanding sixth schedule status for the Union Territory. The march, named 'Delhi Chalo Padyatra,' commenced from Leh a month ago.
