President Joe Biden declared on Wednesday that he will not endorse an Israeli strike on Tehran's nuclear sites in retaliation for Iran's missile assault on Israel.

Biden firmly responded, “The answer is no,” when questioned by reporters about backing such a move after Iran fired approximately 180 missiles at Israel on Tuesday.

Biden's remarks followed a teleconference with other Group of Seven (G7) leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom to strategize new sanctions against Iran.

As tensions in the Middle East escalate due to the recent attack by Iran-backed Hamas militants, the US and its allies are desperately working to contain the conflict. They urged Israel to show restraint in considering possible retaliatory measures against Iran.

Israel has begun limited ground operations against Hezbollah, an Iran-supported military group in Lebanon, following airstrikes that killed the group's leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

Hezbollah has suffered significant losses due to detonations of explosives believed to have been orchestrated by Israel last month. Biden expressed his opposition to Israel targeting Iranian nuclear facilities as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considers his response options, stressing such an act could trigger a broader conflict.

The White House reiterated G7's strong condemnation of Iran's attack and Biden's unwavering support for Israel. He indicated imminent G7 sanctions against Iran and stated, “There are things that have to be done” in response.

Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell emphasized the critical nature of the situation, noting ongoing discussions between the US and Israel on appropriate measures. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also held talks with European counterparts about the escalating Middle East situation.
